Senior Systems Engineer

QDos IT Limited is an established, dynamic IT consultancy. We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer to join our existing technical team to support the networks and infrastructures of our expanding client base. The technical support is split approximately 60/40 between remote and onsite although this can obviously vary.

This customer facing role will include travel between sites predominately across the Thames Valley and London area as well as some further afield. The candidate must have proven experience in a support environment, with network installation experience and be confident and able to deal with people of all levels.


  • Answering and responding to technical queries at 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support levels within our agreed clients SLAs.
  • Installation and configuration of network equipment to include: Desktops, Laptops, Servers, Switches, Firewalls, Routers etc and associated software
  • Ability to take lead on project implementation
  • Completing timesheets for both support and installation work carried out

Experience / Skills Required:

  • Solid working knowledge of Windows 2000/2003/2008 server, Active Directory and Exchange 2000/2003/2007/2010 infrastructure and technologies
  • A good knowledge of Terminal Services, Group Policy
  • DNS, DHCP, IAS, and General TCP/IP
  • Good understanding of Windows 2000 / XP / Vista/Windows 7
  • Solid understanding of all Microsoft Office solutions is also required
  • Working knowledge of Firewall, WAN Technologies, Network Infrastructure and VPN Technologies (Cisco, Watchguard, Draytek)
  • Good understanding of Symantec Backup Exec solutions
  • Corporate Antivirus solutions (Sophos, Symantec, McAfee)

Desirable attributes:

  • Citrix
  • VMWare
  • Linux
  • SharePoint
  • Disaster Recovery (Double Take/Never Fail/vRanger/vReplicator)

Key attributes:

  • MCP, MCSE and CCNA or equivalent would be desirable but not essential
  • Full UK Driving License and Car
  • Customer focused and pro-active with regards to fulfilling the clients requirements / expectations
  • Enthusiastic and motivated
  • Prepared to work out of hours / on call when required
